What people are saying about the NEW Advanced Nia class

December 20th, 2011

I started something brand new this past fall. New and freaking scary. Something I’d never done before, something that doesn’t exist, to my knowledge, anywhere else. I created an Advanced Nia class. I had no template to follow, and had to dig deep to execute this. But I did it!

While we still follow Nia’s #1 principle “The Joy of Movement”, in this advanced class we test our growing edge; pushing ourselves to expand our practice through the pleasure of dynamic ease. In addition, we create performance choreography and this first class performed last week at the Joy of Dance’s end of term showcase.

Take a look at one of our final class rehearsals, and listen to what students have to say about their experience in the class.

I could see YOU as part of this class – can you?

I think I can, I think I can, I think I can

December 10th, 2011

Tomorrow, I’m leading my group of self proclaimed “Nia Supah Starz” at the Joy of Dance’s end of term showcase! Although I did a performance last year with the most delicious Eloise Goodwin, I have never led a group through this experience.

It has been THRILLING to say the least! My confidence, both in choreographing and in teaching, has burgeoned this fall. Setting the goal of creating this Advanced Nia Class had me shaking in my boots this past summer. I had no template, just a desire to create something new.

And now we are here, and HERE WE GO!!!

Motivation? This:

I not only know that I can, I know that I WILL!
