Personal Training
A long struggle with adult-onset anorexia and an exercise addiction, along with lifelong body image issues brought Jennifer to body-friendly fitness. About 18 years ago, she found that her body and soul were tired of the traditional "no-pain-no-gain" fitness mentality and she found herself learning and teaching the Nia Technique and other movement modalities. Since beginning a career teaching embodied movement, Jennifer has learned skills to manage her Bipolar Disorder,
has healed her plantar fasciitis, and has learned how to take care of her body and mind. She is a former member of the Nia Training Faculty.
Now, Jennifer is a canfitpro certified Personal Training Specialist (and Size Inclusive Fitness Specialist) with a desire to share the feel-good effects of movement. She believes that all bodies are good bodies and that all forms of movement are beneficial. She takes a fun and spirited approach to fitness and prioritizes the importance of feeling good while moving. She is sensitive to the fitness "baggage" (trauma) many of us carry, and brings her weight neutral, size-inclusive, diet-free, trauma-informed, anti-racist, anti-ableist, anti-ageist and anti-oppressive perspective and skills to the training experience. Jennifer focuses on functional training for beginners and centres the use of body weight in training.
