Mess: the hospital anthology

One of my pieces was recently published in this book! 

My story about my journey with anorexia and bipolar disorder has been published in Mess: The Hospital Anthology, Edited by Julie Devaney and David Molenhuis.

My story is entitled “Scenes of Shifting Sanity.” In her introduction of my piece Julie writes:

“Jennifer Hicks invites us into her world as a healthcare professional who herself is struggling with other professionals as she asks for compassion and support while living with bipolar disorder“

Although it feels like I’ve shared my mental health experiences so many times before (for example, here and here), I’m so proud of myself for being part of something that has a wider impact on the world.

Along with so many other gifted contributors, I feel so incredibly fortunate to be be able to share my experiences to help empower others to help themselves.

I know what has happened to me has a greater purpose and it’s my obligation to continue to help others in this way. So, I intend to keep on doing just that!
