Alzheimer's Society Dine & Dance

The Alzheimer’s Society of Toronto organizes an annual Dine & Dance in the Afternoon social event at the historic St. Lawrence Hall for people in the early stage of dementia and their family caregivers.

This year,  I was fortunate to be invited as a movement facilitator to inspire folks to get up and dance.

In turn, I was moved by the happiness I saw around the hall. The room was filled with smiles, laughter and pure joy!

Take a look for yourself and see the power of dance to delight. As I watched these women dance, I felt their vibrant spirits transcend their dementia. It was breath-taking and the highlight of my week.

It was also nice to get some Twitter props for my participation!

So beautiful to see movement move past the dementia into joy. My paternal grandparents both had Alzheimer’s and music always got them toe tapping and smiling.
