Sweating: It feels good!

There was a time when I was embarrassed about how much I sweat.

Cause I sweat a lot. I mean a WHOLE LOT. I’ll sweat on the hottest days AND on the coldest days of the year. Very little physical activity is required for me to sweat. I can be folding laundry, taking the garbage out or reaching into the top cupboard in the kitchen and feel a little trickle run down my side.  It really doesn’t take much.

It was in my undergrad physiology class that  realized that it’s actually healthy to sweat a lot.

I learned that sweating is my body’s way of regulating my temperature (this must mean that I’m pretty hot stuff, then, huh?!).  Sweating also helps my body rid itself of toxins and waste products faster than my kidneys can. Sweating cleanses my skin, the largest organ in my body.

Sweat is my body’s way of moving energy and releasing.  When I’m sweating, my circulation, metabolism and cardiovascular activity are in flow. And you know what? It just feels good!

Is it any wonder people like to use saunas and steam rooms? Or get their sweat-on while exercising?  A good sweat is worth a million bucks!

(Grampy, I haven’t forgotten: ‘women glow, they don’t sweat’. I just like the word ‘sweat’. Forgive me?).
